This cozy yet lightweight crewneck showcases "Marina Beach" printed across the front.
Marina Beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is the world’s second-longest urban beach. Before the 16th century, the area was shaped by floodwaters, but it became a sandy stretch in the 1880s when the British East India Company built the Madras Harbour, pushing the shoreline back and allowing sand to accumulate. In 1884, British Governor Mount Stuart Elphinstone Grant Duff developed a promenade along the beach, naming it "Madras Marina." Over the years, it has witnessed everything from freedom fighters rallying for independence to political leaders delivering speeches that shaped Tamil Nadu’s future. Today, statues of figures like Thiruvalluvar and Gandhi stand proudly along the beach, watching over visitors as they stroll barefoot in the sand, fly kites, or enjoy sundal.
